My name is James Tasker, and I am excited to announce my candidacy as an Independent for St Helens South and Whiston in the upcoming general election.
As many of you know, I have served Rainhill as an Independent councillor for the last six years. I have always been deeply committed to fighting for our communities and ensuring our voices are heard.
Today, I am taking this commitment a step further. Our community needs a representative in Parliament who is not bound by party politics but is dedicated to addressing our real issues.
I am running as an Independent candidate because I believe St Helens and Whiston deserve an independent voice—someone who prioritises our residents’ needs and interests above all else.
As a councillor, I have seen the difference that dedicated, community-focused leadership can make. From advocating for better local services and improved infrastructure to supporting our schools and healthcare facilities, my focus has always been making our community a better place to live. I am proud of our progress together, but much work still needs to be done.
Ensuring our roads, public transport, and community facilities receive desperately needed investment.
Working towards protecting our green spaces and promoting sustainable development for a healthier future.
I will be committed to securing more resources for our schools so every child has the opportunity to succeed and can access effective mental health care.
As your independent MP, I pledge to enhance healthcare services in St Helens and Whiston by advocating for increased funding and resources. Ensuring our local hospitals, clinics, and mental health services are adequately equipped is paramount. I will push for better staffing, state-of-the-art medical equipment, and expanded services to meet our community’s growing needs.
Securing the necessary funding can reduce waiting times, improve patient care, and support our dedicated healthcare professionals. Together, we can build a healthier future for everyone in St Helens and Whiston.
Lobbying for more funding and powers for police to combat anti-social behaviour within our communities.
Protecting women’s and girls’ rights to safe spaces in all places, without discrimination.
I believe embracing and promoting St Helens’s heritage and industry is also essential to long-term economic success. As an independent MP, I will prioritise support for local entrepreneurs, ensuring they have the resources and opportunities to thrive.
Together, we can forge a prosperous future for St Helens and Whiston, honouring our past while looking boldly towards the future. I see success measured by the buzz of the Town. As your independent MP, I hope that championing local businesses will help stimulate the town to bring economic growth that will be seen for generations.
Speak out for women impacted by this scandal and lobby the government to fix this issue and fully compensate all women impacted.
I intend to address this by continuing to support campaigns to fight neglect & child poverty, which can lead to addiction, suicide, and mental health issues, depriving them of future aspirations.
Running independently allows me to focus solely on what is best for our community without the constraints of party politics. I am committed to being a responsive, approachable, and accountable representative. Your concerns, hopes, and dreams will be at the heart of my work in Parliament.
I am deeply grateful for the support I have received so far, and I humbly ask for your continued support and vote in this election. Together, we can ensure that St Helens South and Whiston have a powerful, independent voice in Parliament. Let’s make a real difference together.
For the People, not the Party!
